Bihar: Women’s post office opens in Motihari, aimed at empowering them

In Motihari, Bihar, local leaders took a big step toward women’s empowerment today by opening a new Women’s City Post Office. This marks the third such facility in the state, showing the Central and Bihar governments’ strong push for women-focused initiatives.

BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh, along with local MLA Pramod Kumar and Post Superintendent Ashutosh Aditya, kicked off the event by lighting a ceremonial lamp. On the same day, Singh also inaugurated two new post offices in Motihari, bringing fresh services right to the community.

During the ceremony, officials praised the Central Government’s upgrades to post offices, like adding banking options to make things easier for everyone. They stressed that this women-only sub-post office focuses on ladies’ needs and convenience, offering real benefits in daily life.

MP Radha Mohan Singh shared his excitement: “People in Bihar are lucky to see the third Women’s City Post Office open here. True empowerment means creating opportunities, not just rights. I congratulate everyone involved—this will really help women thrive.”

Postmaster Ashutosh Aditya chimed in: “We’ll staff this post office entirely with women employees. It will make a huge difference, especially for women in the area.”

The Indian government keeps rolling out key programs to boost women’s empowerment across the country. These include the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for free LPG connections, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to protect and educate girls, and Mahila Samridhi Yojana to support female entrepreneurs. Other efforts like One Stop Centres and Women Helpline provide help for violence survivors, while the National Creche Scheme offers childcare for working moms.

Initiatives such as PMAY for housing, BBBP for girl child welfare, and the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate give women better access to education, financial freedom, social safety nets, and protection from discrimination. Experts agree that empowering women drives sustainable development, better health, stronger economies, and fairer societies in places like Bihar and beyond.
