BJP govt ensures development, respect for tribals: Tripura CM Manik Saha

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has made a bold statement, emphasizing that the people of the state now realize the importance of the BJP for development. He said that without the BJP, neither Tripura nor the country can progress. Saha pointed out that political parties like CPI(M) and Congress have mainly used tribal communities as a vote bank, rather than truly working for their development.

Speaking at a program in Killa, a remote tribal village in southern Tripura’s Gomati district, Saha announced that 610 voters from 200 families joined the BJP. Many of these new members came from different political backgrounds, showing growing support for the BJP in the region.

The Chief Minister also highlighted recent efforts to connect with the people. He shared his experience of attending a big gathering in Asarambari on August 31, organized around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio program. He said that the event was a non-political effort to reach out to citizens, and emphasized that the BJP stands firmly with party workers, especially when they face attacks.

Saha referenced an incident on July 27 where BJP workers were allegedly attacked by Tipra Motha Party (TMP) workers during Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. Nine BJP workers were injured in the attack. The Tipra Motha Party, led by former royal Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, is a part of the ruling coalition in Tripura and has two ministers in the government.

He criticized past political regimes, accusing the CPI(M) and Congress of using violence and terror during their long rule. “BJP believes in peaceful politics,” Saha said. “We want unity among all tribes and communities, as Prime Minister Modi always emphasizes development for everyone.”

The Chief Minister also highlighted how the situation in Tripura has improved under BJP leadership. He said that the state is now free from terrorism, which was a major issue during CPI(M)’s rule. Since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, the entire Northeast region, including Tripura, has seen significant development. Connectivity has improved with better roads, internet, railways, and air services, all part of the HIRA model.

Saha also took a moment to praise the former kings of Tripura, especially Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, who ruled until 1947. He noted that the BJP government respects the legacy of Tripura’s royal family, unlike the CPI(M), which he claimed never gave them the respect they deserved. Maharaja Bir Bikram worked tirelessly to develop Tripura, from schools and colleges to markets and institutions.

Many party leaders, including BJP MLA Rampada Jamatia, State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, and Mandal President Amar Jamatia, also attended the program, showing strong support for the BJP’s growth in Tripura.

This rally and the support shown by the tribal voters reflect the BJP’s expanding influence in the state, promising further development and peace for Tripura.
