Hyderabad, Dec. 7 (LatestNewsX) – K. T. Rama Rao, the Working President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), urged party members to mark December 9 as Vijay Diwas, a watershed moment in the Telangana statehood journey.
During a virtual call with senior leaders, MLAs, MLCs and district presidents, he instructed them to host celebrations at every constituency hub.
KTR recalled that on 9 Dec 2009 the central government announced the start of Telangana’s formation, following the fast‑to‑death of BRS founder K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
He encouraged cadres to replicate the success of Deeksha Diwas on 29 Nov, the day KCR launched his hunger strike demanding statehood for Telangana.
According to KTR, the 60‑year‑old Telangana dream took shape on 9 Dec because of KCR’s fast. To honour that historic turning point and the sacrifices of KCR, he called for programmes across all constituencies.
Since party leaders are busy with local body elections, celebrations should focus on constituency offices rather than villages.
KTR directed that the statues of Telangana Thalli receive a milk bath at these centres, and that Dr B. R. Ambedkar’s statues be garlanded and respectfully paid homage.
Cadres were also urged to hand out fruit to patients in government hospitals and to release pink balloons at party offices or key junctions as a symbol of victory.
He added that a media conference should remind people—and future generations—of KCR’s steadfast hunger strike, the Telangana struggle, and the sacrifices made by students.
Fruit‑distribution drives will take place at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences and Gandhi Hospital, overseen by former minister T. Srinivas Yadav, with city leaders asked to participate.
