BSF nabs three smugglers, recovers heroin and drone along Punjab border

BSF Cracks Down on Drug and Arms Smugglers Along Punjab Border

In a series of swift actions, the Border Security Force (BSF) stopped several smuggling bids across the Punjab border and arrested multiple suspects. Troops seized heroin worth lakhs and even nabbed a drone used in these illegal activities. This crackdown happened in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Ferozepur districts, showing the BSF’s sharp focus on curbing cross-border smuggling.

BSF personnel caught one suspected smuggler near Kalsian village in Tarn Taran. He carried 560 grams of heroin hidden on him. Not stopping there, in Amritsar, alert troops spotted drone activity near Rattankhurd village and recovered 590 grams of heroin dropped from the sky. Later, they found another 600 grams near Naushera Dhalla in the same area.

The action heated up when two more suspects tried to pick up a drone-dropped package near Khalra. BSF teams quickly apprehended them, preventing the heroin from reaching the wrong hands. Over in Ferozepur, after a big bust the day before—where they grabbed nine packets of heroin and arrested two smugglers—troops found a drone near Hussainiwala barrage. These back-to-back operations highlight how BSF stays one step ahead in the fight against narcotics smuggling along the India-Pakistan border.

But the BSF didn’t just tackle drugs. In a major win against arms trafficking, they teamed up with the Special Security Operations Command (SSOC) in Fazilka. Acting on solid intelligence, the joint team set up an ambush near Mahar Khiwa Mansa village late at night.

After hours of watchful waiting, they spotted suspicious movement in the early morning and grabbed one smuggler red-handed. A quick search turned up a huge haul: 27 pistols, 54 magazines, and 470 live rounds, all stuffed in a bag he was carrying. Questioning him led to another arrest from the same village, breaking open this weapons smuggling ring along the Punjab border.

These successes show the BSF’s non-stop commitment to securing India’s borders and stopping the flow of drugs and arms. Punjab police and other agencies continue to support these efforts to keep the region safe.
