On July 12, two BJP workers, Sujit Das and Sujit Paik, died during a public cultural event in their village. The police initially reported that their deaths were caused by electrocution. During Wednesday’s court hearing, Justice Debangshu Basak and Justice Shabbar Rashidi questioned why the first autopsy didn’t mention any injury marks, while the second did. They also noted that the incident happened at a public event, yet no witnesses have come forward, which is unusual. The judges expressed concerns about witnesses being too scared to speak and urged the police to take steps to gather more evidence.
Justice Basak specifically asked the police to check the phone call details of the 17 people named as accused in the case. He emphasized that an investigation into these individuals is crucial to uncover the truth.
