CBI visits key witness after his son killed in road accident; 8 named in complaint against Sheikh Shahjahan

Kolkata, Dec 11 (LatestNewsX) – Earlier this week, a squad from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) paid a visit to the home of Bhola Ghosh. Ghosh is the main witness in a criminal case involving Sheikh Shahjahan, a former Trinamool Congress leader who has now been suspended. Shahjahan operates out of Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

According to sources, the CBI officials arrived at Ghosh’s residence to probe the death of his younger son, Satyajit Ghosh, who was killed in a road accident the previous Wednesday. The victim had been traveling with his father to the trial court to give a statement against Shahjahan.

The investigation was prompted after Bhola Ghosh lodged a written complaint at the Nazat police station in Basirhat district police zone. In his filing, he named eight individuals he believes were responsible for the mishap, noting that he survived the crash while his son did not.

Sheikh Shahjahan and his wife, Taslima Bibi, appear first on the list of accused. The remaining six names mentioned are Gaffar Sheikh, Sabir Ali Molla, Chairap Meer, Abdul Kahar Molla, Abdul Ali Molla, and Nazrul Molla.

Ghosh also identified Sabir Ali Molla as the truck driver involved in the collision that struck the vehicle where he and his son were travelling.

Shahjahan is currently being held in judicial custody on multiple charges. These include alleged masterminding attacks on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) officers at his Sandeshkhali residence last year, forcibly appropriating land in the area, illegally converting farmland into pisciculture farms using saline water, and allegations of sexual exploitation of local women.

The CBI recently submitted to the Calcutta High Court a compilation of roughly 3,000 individual complaints registered against Shahjahan. In its report, the agency outlined evidence it believes substantiates the various charges filed.

The progress bulletin also highlighted associates closely linked to Shahjahan who are alleged to have helped orchestrate these illegal schemes.
