Central govt working to fulfil all hopes of Ladakh, says LG Kavinder Gupta

Ladakh’s Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta shared some positive updates on Wednesday, stressing that India’s Central government is pushing hard to meet the region’s biggest hopes and dreams. He expects things to wrap up soon as talks pick up steam.

Protesters and local leaders in Ladakh are already chatting with officials, Gupta told reporters. “With the way things are going, we can sit down for real discussions soon,” he said. “Once the right vibe is there, we’ll dive into dialogue. The team here has always fought for people’s needs. I’ve stuck around for two months now and haven’t skipped a single meeting request. Folks here really hear me out and push for fixes.”

Gupta highlighted ongoing job creation in Ladakh, a key focus amid the region’s push for growth. Officials have posted about 1,000 new openings, and they’re pulling in more people for roles in tourism, education, and health sectors. Plus, over 18,000 small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are keeping more than 50,000 locals busy.

He urged stakeholders to speak up directly. “The Central government wants to deliver on all Ladakh’s promises,” Gupta added. “Everyone should share their worries with us—we’ll reach out too. I truly believe we’ll sort this out fast.”

In a separate move, Gupta led a top-level meeting that day to check on Ladakh’s law and order. Key figures joined in, including Chief Secretary Pawan Kotwal, Director General of Police SD Singh Jamwal, and other senior cops and officials like Deputy Commissioner Leh and local police heads.

They updated him on the latest security scene and steps to keep peace steady. Gupta praised the security forces and civil teams for their non-stop work in bringing back normal life over the last week, despite tough odds.

He also thanked Ladakh residents for their calm and teamwork. During the chat on welfare, Gupta asked about the injured folks still getting care at the government hospital. He ordered top-notch medical help and told the Deputy Commissioner to step up with aid and cash support if anyone needs treatment outside the area. “No one should struggle or feel left behind,” he said.

Gupta called on people to ignore rumors and fake news spreading around. He promised that authorities and security teams will protect peace and unity no matter what. Soon, he’ll ease any temporary restrictions in stages as stability returns fully.

“Peace and development top our list in Ladakh,” Gupta wrapped up. “With everyone’s help, we’ll keep moving forward on the road to progress.”
