Big Win for Security Forces in Chhattisgarh: 10 Naxals Neutralized in Intense Encounters
Security forces in Chhattisgarh scored a major victory against Naxals with two back-to-back operations that took out 10 armed militants, including a top commander with a whopping Rs 1 crore bounty. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma praised the teams for their smart and restrained approach, calling it an "excellent operation" that lasted two full days.
The main clash unfolded in Gariaband district, where CRPF’s elite Cobra commandos, Chhattisgarh Police, and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) teamed up. They faced off against Naxals in a fierce gunfight, with intermittent firing continuing into Friday morning. Officials confirmed that all 10 Naxals died in the encounter, and the forces seized 10 weapons from the site. Among the dead was senior commander Manoj, also known as Modem Balakrishna, a key member of the Naxals’ Central Committee (CC). His elimination marks a huge blow to the Maoist network in the region.
Earlier, Inspector General (IG) of Raipur Range, Amresh Mishra, shared updates on the ongoing encounter, noting that special forces from Gariaband’s E-30 unit, the Special Task Force (STF), and CoBRA were on the ground, battling tough odds.
In a separate but equally intense Naxal encounter, forces neutralized one more militant along the Kanker-Narayanpur border. This happened in the dense, hilly jungles near Gedabeda village under Partapur police station. The killed Naxal belonged to the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Military Company 05 and carried a Rs 8 lakh reward. At the spot, the team recovered a .303 rifle and a walkie-talkie, which could help track more insurgents.
IG of Bastar Range, Sundarraj P, highlighted the challenges: "Even with rough terrain and harsh weather, our police and security forces in Bastar are pushing forward with full commitment. They’re safeguarding lives and property, just as the Government of India and Chhattisgarh government want."
These anti-Naxal operations show India’s security forces ramping up efforts to curb Maoist activities in Chhattisgarh’s red corridor. With key leaders down, locals hope for more peace in these troubled areas. Stay tuned for updates on Chhattisgarh Naxal encounters and security operations.
