In Hyderabad, police are cracking down after Tollywood legend and former Union Minister Konidela Chiranjeevi filed a complaint about deep‑fake porn videos that use his image.
The Cybercrime Police registered the case on Oct. 27 and began a probe after the actor said websites were spreading AI‑generated videos that falsely depict him in sexual acts. Those sites also claim he is involved in the content, but Chiranjeevi insists the videos are fabricated.
He filed the police complaint under parts of the IT Act, the Indecent Representation of Women Prevention Act and the Indian Penal Code. Chiranjeevi also cited Article 21 of India’s Constitution, which protects his right to privacy and reputation.
The actor already secured an interim injunction from a civil court to prevent further misuse of his likeness. He called the videos “completely fake” and warned that the widespread availability of the material threatens his public image and the goodwill he has built over his long career in film and charity.
Chiranjeevi asked police to launch an immediate criminal and technical investigation. He wants the offending websites blocked, the content removed and the creators identified. The complaint points out that the problem is not isolated but part of a broader pattern of organized deep‑fake operations online.
The case highlights the growing danger of AI‑generated adult content and its impact on well‑known figures. Handlers at Hyderabad’s cybercrime unit are on the case and aim to pull the videos off the internet while tracing the perpetrators.
