Picture this: kids facing tough times after losing their family breadwinners now get a safety net. Under ‘Anbukkarangal’, eligible children will receive Rs 2,000 every month until they turn 18. The goal? To stop school dropouts due to money woes and ensure they finish their studies strong. It covers orphans as well as those with a single parent struggling to make ends meet.
This new scheme fits right into the Tamil Nadu government’s bigger ‘Thayumanavar’ program, which focuses on lifting families out of poverty through livelihood and welfare support. Before the big reveal, Stalin will lead a tribute at 10 a.m., paying floral respects at Anna’s statue on Anna Salai. Expect ministers, MLAs, and DMK leaders to join in honoring the iconic leader, whose vision of social justice and support for the needy still guides Tamil Nadu’s policies today.
