New Delhi – Major General G. Srinivas, the Commandant of the College of Defence Management, led a team of officers on a “Forward Area tour” that took them to the Trishakti Corps headquarters. The visit, part of a routine review, gave the delegation a chance to learn about the Corps’ operational plans and logistics.
After a detailed briefing, the officers toured the Information and Decision Support Centre. They then met Lt Gen M.R.S. Maan, the commander of the Trishakti Corps, who explained how the unit keeps the Sikkim region and the Siliguri Corridor – a vital “death‑edge” to the south – secure. Trishakti Corps, also known as the Indian Army’s 33rd Corps, is the frontline force on India’s eastern frontier, watching the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
Earlier Monday, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh finished a three‑day trip to forward posts in the Central Sector. His goal was to boost infrastructure in key border areas. He met with the commander of the Uttar Bharat Area and the leader of the 119 (I) Infantry Brigade Group to hear about operational priorities. In Navidang, he spoke with battalion commanders and the chief engineer of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), who gave updates on new roads and bridges that improve strategic mobility.
The Secretary was accompanied by the Director General of Border Roads (DGBR) throughout the tour. The visit highlighted the government’s push for better roads, faster troop movement, and stronger security along India’s borders.
Last week, Defence Secretary Singh signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) to buy INVAR anti‑tank missiles. The deal, worth about 2,095.70 crore rupees, will enhance the firepower of the Indian Army’s main T‑90 tanks. The contract was signed in the presence of senior MoD officials and BDL representatives. The Ministry of Defence said the new missiles will make the T‑90 more lethal and improve overall army readiness.
