In a bid to boost grassroots activity, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge signed off on new leaders for four district teams in Arunachal Pradesh. The appointments were announced early Tuesday.
The All‑India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary K.C. Venugopal named the district presidents:
* Ajong Siboh – Upper Siang
* Maga Apo – Kamle
* Tap Tapum – Kra‑Daadi
* Toko Ramsy – Keyi‑Panyor
These picks aim to strengthen local party structures and give Congress a stronger presence in the state’s diverse regions.
Earlier this week, Kharge also confirmed Pinna K. Muklom as president of the Changlang District Congress Committee, a move announced by Venugopal separately. Muklom had already joined the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) as a secretary when the party reshuffled its state leadership in January, adding a Political Affairs Committee and other key bodies.
In a recent surge of support, more than 2,000 people joined the Congress in Kanubari, Longding district. The mass‑joining rally was led by APCC President Bosiram Siram and party elder Pangjam Wangsa. National‑level leaders such as A. Chellakumar and AICC in‑charge for Arunachal, Adv. Mathew Antony, also attended. Local figures including Kehang Social, Pinna Kitnal Singpho and Tekwa Tangse joined the crowd.
“Swinging people back to Congress shows renewed faith in our vision of peace, development and inclusive governance,” Bosiram said. He described the turnout as a “vote of confidence” for Congress’s new focus on grassroots work.
The gathering also carried the party’s nationwide “Vote Chori” signature campaign, a protest against alleged electoral malpractice. Congress leaders urged volunteers to rally around the campaign and defend democratic processes across the country.
