Shooting fallout: Prez Trump announces plan to halt migration from Third World nations

New Delhi, Nov 28 (LatestNewsX) – Just days after an Afghan man allegedly fired at two National Guard soldiers outside the White House, President Donald Trump rolled out a sweeping immigration proposal. In his statement, he said he intends to “permanently pause migration from all Third World countries.”

If the plan goes into effect, it will reach a huge segment of people who come to the U.S. for education, work, safety or asylum, and could shift global migration flows. Trump used a sharply‑worded post on Truth Social last Thursday to explain that, in his view, America’s technological lead has been threatened by immigration rules that have, according to him, eroded progress and living standards.

The president wrote: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the US system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country, end all Federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens of our Country, denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.”

Trump said the policy was meant to sharply cut what he calls “illegal and destabilizing populations.” He argued that the only lasting remedy was what he termed “reverse migration.” He finished the post with a stark warning: “Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation. Other than that, HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL, except those that hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for – You won’t be here for long.”

Earlier that Thursday, US Customs and Immigration Service Director Joseph Edlow confirmed that he was conducting a major review of every Green Card issued to people from the countries Trump listed as “concern.” The request was part of a broader order issued by the president. India is not on the concern list, nor are most South Asian nations, with the exception of Afghanistan.

The drive followed the shooting spree on Wednesday when Rahmanullah Lakanwal opened fire at the White House. One guard named Sarah Beckstrom was killed, while the other soldier is in critical condition. Lakanwal, who was wounded before being taken into custody, remains hospitalized. Trump said after the incident that the U.S. must “re‑examine every single alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan.”

Under Edlow’s expanded scrutiny, hundreds of thousands of Green Card holders from the 19 countries on the watch list will be subject to deep checks. Trump had put these nations on a watch list in June and limited visa issuance to their citizens, citing concerns over how well the U.S. could vet applicants from those places.

The list includes Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.

Lakanwal, who previously worked with the Central Intelligence Agency in Afghanistan, came to the United States under a program that extends protection to Afghans who assisted U.S. forces after the Taliban takeover.
