In a fiery speech in Thanjavur, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) leader TTV Dhinakaran slammed AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami, predicting a humiliating defeat for him after the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Dhinakaran didn’t hold back, saying Palaniswami would end up “standing alone in the middle of the street” once voters make their choice.
Talking to reporters, Dhinakaran called out Palaniswami’s recent alliance with the BJP. “He claims it’s about gratitude, but that’s like Satan reciting scriptures—pure hypocrisy,” Dhinakaran quipped. He reminded everyone that it wasn’t the BJP that rescued Palaniswami during the political crisis; it was the 122 MLAs holed up at Koovathur resort who stood by him. “Palaniswami is just a bundle of lies,” Dhinakaran added, urging Tamil Nadu people to reject him outright in 2026.
Dhinakaran made it crystal clear: AMMK has zero plans to team up with Palaniswami ever again. He accused the AIADMK leader of cozying up to the central government using the party’s Two Leaves symbol and “money power.” But Dhinakaran believes this won’t save him—Palaniswami’s vote share could drop from 20% to just 10%, he warned.
The AMMK chief even mocked Palaniswami’s sense of “gratitude.” “He has no right to talk about it. For every mess he’s in, he’s the one to blame—like a gooseberry you can crush in your palm,” Dhinakaran said with a jab.
Dhinakaran also took a swipe at BJP Tamil Nadu chief Nainar Nagendran, accusing him of flip-flopping on statements. “I never said I’d back Palaniswami as the chief ministerial candidate, and I definitely didn’t tell Nagendran that,” he clarified.
This comes after Nagendran’s comments on September 7, where he distanced himself from AMMK’s exit from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). “I’m not responsible for their walkout,” Nagendran had said, adding he’s open to talks for reconciliation. He stressed that if opposition parties unite against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), they could keep it out of power in the next elections.
As Tamil Nadu’s political scene heats up ahead of 2026, these sharp exchanges highlight the growing rift between former allies in the AIADMK camp and the NDA.
