Top ministers condemn Red Fort blast, security agencies on high alert

A car exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station last night, killing at least ten people and injuring dozens more in a busy high‑security area. The blast left the city on edge and prompted a swift reply from the nation’s top leaders.

The Indian government immediately raised a national‑security alert across the country’s railway network. “We are on full alert and have tightened security at all major stations,” said Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on X. He also expressed deep sorrow for the families affected.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shared her shock over the loss of innocent lives and offered condolences to those left bereft. “This tragedy has deeply saddened us all,” she posted, adding prayers for the recovery of the injured.

State leaders also weighed in. Haryana’s Chief Minister Manohar Lal spoke of heartfelt sympathy and urged support for those injured. Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar called the loss “heart‑breaking” and sent wishes to the victims’ families. NCP senior politician Sharad Pawar called the incident “extremely concerning” and urged the Prime Minister and Home Minister to launch a thorough investigation and strengthen security.

The incident highlights the need for tighter safety measures in India’s key transit hubs. As officials work to uncover how the blast happened, they promise a comprehensive review and stronger safeguards to prevent a repeat. The country remains on high alert as the investigation unfolds.
