Police in Jaipur have seized counterfeit money worth 43 lakh rupees during a high‑profile raid in the Narayan Vihar area. The Special Operations Group (SOG) raided a flat on Friday evening after a 15‑day intelligence effort and arrested two suspects in possession of fake ₹500 notes.
Ad G SOG officer VK Singh said the operation comes at a time when fake‑currency crimes often rise during festivals, so authorities stepped up surveillance. Thanks to specific tips, the SOG worked with the Narayan Vihar police to snatch the counterfeit bills.
South District Police now investigate the case. The raid recovered two piles of fake notes: ₹26 lakh of printed bills and ₹17 lakh in uncut printed sheets, suggesting the thieves were still preparing more coins for distribution across Rajasthan—and possibly beyond. Officials suspect the sheets crossed state borders before being assembled in Jaipur.
What shocked investigators was how sophisticated the fake notes were. For the first time, they included real security features such as watermarks and embossing that you normally see on genuine ₹500 notes. This indicates the thieves used advanced printing techniques and had a well‑organised network.
During interrogation, the suspects revealed they sold the counterfeit currency at a 4:1 ratio: four times the fake money for every ₹1 lakh in real cash. A key player, a criminal based in Bikaner, appears to have been distributing the fake notes in the region. Based on this intel, police already raided several other locations to catch more members of the racket.
The crackdown is a major win for Jaipur’s police, especially as the festive season approaches and the risk of counterfeit money rises. By targeting the network’s supply chain and pinpointing the origin of the fake bills, authorities hope to curb the spread of counterfeits across the state.
The operation highlights how coordinated police work can protect everyday transactions from being hijacked by sophisticated counterfeiters. (Source: )
