Veteran CPI Leader K.E. Ismail Heartbroken Over Ban from Kerala State Conference
In a heartfelt post on social media, 84-year-old Communist Party of India (CPI) veteran K.E. Ismail has shared his deep pain after the party barred him from attending the upcoming Kerala state conference in Alappuzha. The three-day event kicks off on Wednesday and brings together party members for important talks on policies and future plans.
Ismail, a former Kerala Revenue Minister and Rajya Sabha member, got suspended for six months back in March. This happened after he made some statements following the death of top CPI leader and ex-legislator P. Raju. Despite his lifelong dedication to Communist politics, Ismail feels let down that the leadership won’t let him join the conference after all his years of service.
"I have worked in the party all my life. Am I not allowed to attend this conference? The leadership has imposed a restriction. I feel sorrow and deep pain," Ismail wrote on his social media account. He fondly remembered his time working under legendary CPI leaders like C. Achutha Menon, N.E. Balaram, P.K. Vasudevan Nair, and Veliyam Bhargavan. "I was entrusted with responsibilities during their time, and I carried them out to the best of my abilities. Those memories remain with me even today," he added.
Ismail also brought up a key decision from the 2022 CPI Party Congress in Hyderabad. That policy stopped members over 75 from holding active roles in the party. "From 2022 onwards, I have been only a primary member because of that policy. But what fault has the leadership now found in me, a primary member?" he questioned.
The seasoned leader held back from saying more right now but hinted he might share additional thoughts later. Still, he wished the Kerala CPI state conference all the best. "I will always remain a Communist. That commitment will last until the very end of my life," he affirmed, showing his strong loyalty to CPI ideology despite the setback.
His emotional post has sparked buzz in CPI circles as the party gears up for the Alappuzha conference. Expect lively discussions on organizational issues, strategies, and more during this key Kerala CPI event.
