Bihar: Women in Bagaha happy as they will get first installment of Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana

In Bihar’s Bagaha region, excitement is building as thousands of women prepare to receive their first Rs 10,000 payment under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana this Friday. This big step toward women empowerment in Bihar promises to reach over 7.5 million women statewide, helping them kickstart their own businesses and gain financial independence.

The scheme comes from a teamwork effort between the Central government and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s state team. It targets one eligible woman per family with direct financial support for self-employment opportunities. Funds will flow straight into bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), keeping things transparent and hassle-free.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to launch the program virtually, with Nitish Kumar joining as the chief guest. Communities across Bihar’s districts are lining up festive events to celebrate the moment.

Local women in Bagaha shared their thrill with reporters. “I’m feeling so good about this,” said Priyanka Devi, one of the beneficiaries. “Women are getting the courage to start our own businesses. No more depending on others!”

Meena Devi echoed the sentiment: “I want to thank the government—this scheme is bringing real happiness. So many of us are ready to launch small ventures, and it will make us truly self-reliant.”

Preeti Kumari added, “There’s a wave of joy among women here. This won’t just boost our finances; it’ll give us confidence and dignity too.”

The rollout is huge: Bihar will distribute Rs 7,500 crore in the first phase, touching about 1.1 million women from cities and villages alike. They can use the money to dive into sectors like farming, animal husbandry, tailoring, handicrafts, weaving, or other small-scale enterprises.

The goal? Turn women into self-reliant earners who uplift their families. For those who succeed and show progress in their jobs, more help is on the way—up to Rs 2 lakh in additional funding. This Bihar women self-employment scheme could spark real change in homes and communities across the state.
