‘120 Bahadur’ new teaser pays homage to 1962 war heroes through Lata Mangeshkar’s legendary song
On Lata Mangeshkar’s birth anniversary, the teaser for the upcoming Bollywood film “120 Bahadur” dropped on Sunday, giving fans a powerful glimpse into this tribute to India’s brave soldiers. Starring Farhan Akhtar, the movie pulls heartstrings with the legendary singer’s timeless track “Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon,” a patriotic anthem she made famous.
Set against the stunning backdrops of Ladakh, “120 Bahadur” dives into real events from the 1962 Indo-China War. Farhan takes on the role of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, the fearless leader of the 13 Kumaon Regiment’s Charlie Company. These soldiers stood their ground against massive Chinese forces, embodying sacrifice and unbreakable brotherhood.
The 1962 war erupted over disputed borders in Aksai Chin near Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. Tensions boiled when China built a road through Aksai Chin, territory India claimed. Talks broke down, and in October 1962, Chinese troops launched attacks on both fronts. India struggled to hold on—Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru hesitated to deploy the air force, border areas lacked strong military setup, and ally USSR stayed out due to the ongoing Cuban Missile Crisis.
“Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon,” penned by poet Kavi Pradeep and tuned by C. Ramchandra, honors the martyrs of that war. The song’s stirring words of unity and valor perfectly match the spirit of “120 Bahadur,” reminding us even today of the heroes who fought for the nation.
