Vice‑President C. P. Radhakrishnan took to the stage on Sunday in Kurukshetra, telling the audience that it was a profound honour to set foot on what locals call the ‘Land of the Vedas.’ While addressing the Akhil Bhartiya Devsthanam Sammelan held alongside the International Gita Mahotsav 2025 in Haryana, he recalled that the site has long been venerated as the place where Lord Krishna spoke the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. In his remarks, he said Kurukshetra “is a timeless reminder that dharma ultimately triumphs over adharma, however powerful the latter may appear.”
The Vice‑President went on to describe the Bhagavad Gita as “a universal manual for righteous living, courageous action, and enlightened consciousness,” stressing that Krishna’s injunction to act in accordance with one’s karma “remains the key to living a meaningful and purposeful life.” He added that “Character is far more important than wealth or other worldly achievements,” and noted that the Gita “guides humanity towards cultivating a virtuous and disciplined life, reminding us, as Lord Krishna did, that moral strength arises from clarity of purpose and dedication to righteousness.”
He expressed optimism that, even amid swift societal changes, the teachings of the Gita will continue to steer individuals, societies, and nations toward peace and harmony. Highlighting the event’s growth, the Vice‑President remarked that Gita Jayanti, celebrated each year, has, over the past nine years, become a global cultural and spiritual celebration. He congratulated the government of Haryana and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini—who was present on the occasion—for bringing the Mahotsav onto the international stage and guiding the state toward new milestones of progress.
The Vice‑President also noted his satisfaction that the International Gita Mahotsav showcases the divine virtues of Lord Krishna, the teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, and the rich cultural heritage of ‘Sanatan Dharma’ in a manner that is accessible to people of all ages.
