In a statement released on Sunday, Virendra Sachdeva, the Delhi BJP President, expressed his astonishment at how Aam Aadmi Party figures such as Arvind Kejriwal and Saurabh Bhardwaj are still engaged in relentless negative commentary despite the party’s substantial loss in the recent assembly election. He pointed out that the ongoing water and air quality issues in the capital stem from nearly fifteen years of oversight under both Congress and AAP administrations, yet the AAP leaders keep blaming the BJP‑ruled state authorities for the situation.
Sachdeva noted that over the past decade, Kejriwal’s government has indulged in large‑scale corruption under the guise of cleaning the Yamuna, while doing little to curb pollution. He added that the city’s public transport disruptions and neglected road repairs have only intensified the air quality crisis.
He lamented that even after the electoral setback, AAP officials have not altered their conduct. “It is shocking how the government of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta managed to organise such impressive Chhath Puja arrangements along the Yamuna banks, yet the party continues to spew false allegations about a so‑called ‘fake Yamuna’ at Vasudev Ghat,” he said.
Despite these misinformation campaigns, the AAP suffered a severe defeat in the Delhi Municipal Corporation by‑elections, losing all twelve contested seats—including the Greater Kailash ward, which had been represented in the assembly by the Delhi AAP President Saurabh Bhardwaj himself. “He still tries to sow confusion over Vasudev Ghat,” Sachdeva added.
He urged the people of Delhi that Bhardwaj should learn from the recent 4,000‑vote loss in Greater Kailash and stop raising irrelevant issues such as Vasudev Ghat. Instead, he should focus on service to the public.
Earlier in the day, BJP activists, opposition representatives, and various dignitaries paid floral tributes to the late former Governor and Senior Advocate Swaraj Kaushal at a formal condolence gathering. MP Bansuri Swaraj spoke at the event, recalling memories of her father Swaraj Kaushal and her mother Sushma Swaraj, and expressing gratitude to all attendees—including judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, political leaders, relatives, fellow advocates, and support staff—for their kind words. “Your sentiments give me the strength to bear this untimely loss,” she said.
The programme concluded with devotional hymns, after which messages of condolence from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries were read aloud.
