In Tripura’s capital town of Agartala, Chief Minister Manik Saha opened the Mukhyamantri Samipeshu program at his home on Wednesday, just after the grand Durga Puja celebrations ended.
The program lets citizens across the state meet the chief minister in person and ask for help with personal or medical problems.
During the session, several residents told Saha about their difficulties.
Tapas Roy from Mohorchhara in Teliamura asked for help about his ill son. The chief minister talked straight to Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, the medical superintendent of GB Hospital, and told him to arrange treatment for the boy in the state.
Mahua Roy from Agartala’s Ramnagar brought up her daughter’s medical needs, and Saha promised to support her in whatever way possible.
Rinku Sarkar, also from Agartala, explained that she couldn’t afford her husband’s care. Saha assured her of financial help and said the Social Welfare Department would provide allowances.
Other people in the crowd, like Dulal Sen from Dhanpur and Milan Pal from Ramnagar, shared their concerns and were told the state would work on solutions.
The event was attended by key Tripura officials: Secretary of Social Welfare and Social Education Tapas Roy, Health Director Dr. Tapan Majumdar, and medical superintendents from GB, IGM and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cancer Centre, among others.
Earlier in the month, Saha had joined the annual Mayer Gaman 2025 ceremony, the farewell procession for Goddess Durga’s immersion. He travelled with devotees to celebrate the end of Durga Puja in his customary spirited way. ()
