Delhi Police detains three illegal Bangladeshi migrants, deportation process underway

New Delhi police have cracked down on illegal immigration by arresting three Bangladeshi nationals living unlawfully in the city. The South West District Police’s Operations Cell nabbed the men in the RK Puram area after receiving key intelligence tips.

The suspects entered India on valid visas but overstayed without permission, according to a police statement released Friday. They planned to head to European countries like Portugal but ended up seeking jobs in Delhi when those visa plans fell through.

Authorities identified the men as Jhalak Pal, 25, from Balaganj in Sylhet, Dhaka; Md. Nurul Abser, also known as Abser, 40, from Chattogram; and Mohammed Azizul Hoque, also known as Hoque, 21, also from Chattogram, all in Bangladesh.

Inspector Gajender Singh, who heads the Anti-Narcotics Cell in the South West District, led the operation under the watch of Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijaypal Singh Tomar. His team included Assistant Sub-Inspector Ved Prakash, Head Constable Sundar, Head Constable Deepak, Constables Farhaan and Mohit, and Woman Constable Somata.

The bust started with a tip from Head Constable Sundar about suspicious activity by Bangladeshi nationals in RK Puram. When police checked, the men couldn’t show valid IDs or travel papers. During questioning, they confessed to arriving legally in 2025 on visas that had since expired.

Investigators used the suspects’ phones to reach their families back in Bangladesh and verified their identities with National ID cards and passports, confirming they were Bangladeshi citizens. The group had been staying illegally while hunting for work in the capital.

Police quickly kicked off the deportation process with help from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Delhi, following all required steps.

This arrest highlights the South West District Police’s tough approach to illegal immigration and their ongoing push to keep Delhi secure. Officials stressed their dedication to spotting and removing foreign nationals who overstay in the city.
