Ahmedabad, Dec. 28 – In a spirited address to India’s emerging tech leaders, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani emphasized a new era in which technology, talent and national purpose must go hand‑in‑hand. He urged young Indians to step out of the role of mere users and become architects of artificial intelligence as the country enters a decisive phase of digital growth.
Adani delivered his remarks at the opening of the Sharad Pawar Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (CoE‑AI), a flagship initiative of the Vidya Pratishthan educational trust in Baramati, Maharashtra. He highlighted India’s long‑standing capacity to unite people, institutions and vision, and said that same clarity should guide the next generation’s approach to AI.
Acknowledging concerns about the rapid rise of AI, Adani pointed to history for reassurance. “Every major technological shift, from the industrial revolutions to India’s own digital transformation, has expanded human potential,” he noted. “AI will take this further by putting intelligence and productivity right in the hands of ordinary citizens, opening doors for youth from all backgrounds to participate in growth.”
He warned that leadership in AI should not be outsourced. “In a world where intelligence increasingly shapes economic power and national influence, dependence on foreign algorithms carries risk,” he said. “Data, decision‑making and capability must remain anchored in national interest. Building indigenous AI models, strong compute capacity and resilient intelligence ecosystems is essential to India’s economic security, cultural confidence and strategic freedom.”
Adani’s message found context in the Adani Group’s growing footprint in the global AI ecosystem. The conglomerate has been investing heavily in data centres, digital infrastructure and clean‑energy solutions that power large‑scale computing. This has attracted ongoing collaboration from tech giants such as Google and Microsoft, as India positions itself as a serious hub for AI‑driven growth.
The centre of excellence was launched under the Vidya Pratishthan trust, with a Rs 25 crore contribution from Gautam Adani in 2023. Its mission is to promote advanced research, skill development and industry‑oriented training in emerging technologies. Partners say the project will focus on AI applications in agriculture, healthcare, governance and industry, with a strong emphasis on collaboration between academia and the private sector.
