Delhi Police recently pulled off a dramatic rescue, saving a seven-year-old boy from kidnappers and nabbing four suspects in the process. The child, who went missing after heading to school, turned up safe at a farmhouse in Hansi, Haryana. Officers identified the arrested men as Ajay Verma, 24, Amit, 18, Sachin, 20, and another Ajay, 20.
The boy’s mother reported him missing on September 28 at the Vikas Puri police station. She pointed the finger at Ajay Verma, her ex-live-in partner from Hansi, as the mastermind behind the abduction. Cops jumped into action right away, launching a search that led straight to the rescue and arrests. This quick work by Delhi Police highlights their efforts to crack down on child abduction cases in the capital.
In another bold move, Delhi Police arrested a 19-year-old named Jamaal from Subhash Mohalla in Bhajanpura on September 27. It all started when a video popped up on social media showing him firing shots from an illegal gun. Acting on a tip from September 26, the Anti-Auto Theft Squad, led by Inspector Yogesh Vashishta, set up a trap and caught him red-handed.
During the search, officers seized a country-made pistol, one live cartridge, and two empty ones from Jamaal. Police had been keeping a close eye on social media and tracked him down through leads from the footage. They’ve filed charges under Section 25 of the Arms Act at Bhajanpura station, with the investigation still ongoing. This arrest sends a strong message against illegal weapons in Delhi.
Meanwhile, in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden, Delhi Police busted a family-run illegal firecrackers operation, seizing over 3,580 kg of banned explosives. They caught a man, his wife, and their son packing the fireworks in their home, which they were using as a storage hub. The family had sourced the crackers from Meerut, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad to sell at a premium in Delhi, despite the Supreme Court ban on firecrackers for pollution reasons.
These incidents show Delhi Police staying on top of crimes from kidnappings and gun violence to illegal firecrackers sales, keeping the city safer amid rising concerns over public safety.
