Delhi’s Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta landed in Bengaluru today to join the exciting four-day 11th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Conference. The event kicked off with a bang, focusing on the big theme: “Heritage and Development: Towards a Balanced Future.”
Gupta is set to share his thoughts in a key address tomorrow, Friday. He’s pumped about the conference, calling it a vital platform to boost India’s democratic traditions and strengthen institutions nationwide. “This gathering will spark fresh ideas to make our legislatures more responsive to people’s dreams and fortify our federal and democratic setup,” Gupta said.
The conference agenda dives deep into “Debates & Discussions in the Houses of Legislature: Building People’s Trust, Meeting People’s Aspirations.” It explores how lawmakers can protect India’s rich heritage while pushing for inclusive and sustainable growth.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who leads the CPA India Region, officially opened the 11th conference at Bengaluru’s iconic Vidhana Soudha. Expect lively working sessions on September 12 and 13, tackling hot topics like using modern tech in parliamentary work, building public trust through debates, and enhancing legislatures’ role in governance.
To wrap things up, delegates will head out on September 14 for a cultural tour to Nrityagrama and Mysuru, blending education with India’s vibrant traditions.
Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader couldn’t agree more, saying the event is a golden chance for legislatures across India to swap best practices and ramp up cooperation between states. With presiding officers and delegates from every corner of the country joining in, this CPA India Region Conference promises to shape a brighter, more connected future for Indian democracy.
