Delhi Police report that a wanted criminal, Bhim Mahabahadur Jora, was killed in an armed shoot‑out near Aastha Kunj Park in East of Kailash, on the night of October 6‑7.
A secret tip‑off fed the operation, led by Deputy Commissioner Hemant Tiwari. He pulled together a joint team of officers from the South‑East District’s Special Staff and the Gurugram Crime Branch. The raid launched just after midnight, aiming to catch Jora in motion.
When the police team confronted Jora close to the park, he opened fire, discharging six rounds while trying to escape. The officers fired back, hitting him with five shots. He was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where doctors confirmed he had died on arrival.
Jora was 39 and hailed from Lalpur in Nepal’s Kailali District. He had been on India’s wanted list for the brutal murder of Dr. Paul in Jangpura in May 2024, as well as multiple burglaries, dacoit attacks and other murders across Delhi, Gurugram, Gujarat and Bengaluru. Authorities had offered a ₹50,000 reward for his arrest.
During the raid the police seized a high‑power pistol, a live round, several shell casings, and a bag full of house‑breaking tools, all taken from Jora’s possession.
Investigators are now tracing the network of contacts behind Jora’s interstate crime ring.
In a separate action, Delhi Police’s West District team solved a home‑theft case. They arrested four suspects and recovered 156 grams of gold (worth about ₹20 lakh) and nearly ₹10 lakh in cash.
