PM Modi aims to make India developed nation by 2047, says Haryana CM

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini kicked off the Diwali Mela in Surajkund, Faridabad, on Thursday, highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bold plan to turn India into a developed nation by 2047. He stressed that the key to this vision lies in embracing “Vocal for Local,” self-reliance, and the Swadeshi movement.

Saini spoke to an excited crowd right after the inauguration. Earlier that day, he honored Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri with floral tributes on their birth anniversaries. He also shared warm greetings with everyone celebrating the festival of Vijayadashami.

This year’s Diwali Mela carries the theme “Aatmanirbhar Bharat — Swadeshi Mela” and “We Unite Families.” Drawing inspiration from India’s freedom struggle, Saini explained how the historic Swadeshi movement fueled the fight for independence—and how it can now drive the country’s path to prosperity. “Just as Swadeshi strengthened our independence battle, it will empower India’s journey to growth,” he said.

He encouraged shoppers to pick up made-in-India products, celebrating the hard work of young Indian talent. The mela, running until October 7, buzzes with festivities, local businesses, vibrant culture, and stunning art displays. It gives artisans from across the country a big morale boost.

“When you buy from here, you’re not just supporting artisans—you’re helping build a self-reliant India,” Saini added.

The event ties into a larger nationwide push called the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan, aimed at turning the Swadeshi pledge into a grassroots movement. This campaign runs through December 25, marking the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Saini pointed out how the mela’s artworks, handmade products, lively music, and performances capture a snapshot of India’s diversity. The Cultural Zone embodies the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” uniting the nation. Plus, it helps rural producers connect with urban buyers, bridging the gap between countryside crafts and city tastes.
