GK Vasan urges Tamil Nadu MPs to back NDA nominee CP Radhakrishnan for Vice President

Tamil Nadu MP G.K. Vasan Backs NDA’s Vice-President Candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan

In a strong show of support for Tamil Nadu’s pride, Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) President G.K. Vasan urged all Members of Parliament from the state to vote for NDA’s Vice-Presidential candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan. The election is set for September 9, and Vasan made this appeal right before heading to Delhi from Chennai airport on Sunday.

Talking to reporters, Vasan highlighted the excitement of having a Tamil candidate in the race for this top constitutional role. "It’s a huge honor for Tamil Nadu that a Tamil like C.P. Radhakrishnan is contesting. As a proud Tamil, I believe we should rally behind him to win. I’m traveling to Delhi to vote for him myself," Vasan said. He called on MPs to follow their conscience and help Tamils secure key national positions, making the state proud.

Vasan also reaffirmed his party’s firm backing for the AIADMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre. He pointed out that this coalition has built real trust with people over the past few months and needs to grow even stronger. "The NDA in Delhi and the AIADMK alliance here in Tamil Nadu have worked well together as a team. To beat the DMK and take power, all committed parties must join hands and push forward," he added.

Shifting to state issues, Vasan took a sharp dig at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s frequent foreign trips, including his latest ones to Europe and the UK. He questioned the value of these visits, noting that the government hasn’t shared a white paper on any real outcomes despite promises of big investments and partnerships. "With just six months until the Assembly elections, it’s unclear if these trips will deliver anything concrete for Tamil Nadu," Vasan said. He stressed that citizens want clear details on deals with foreign governments and businesses, especially as the state grapples with challenges in industries, job creation, and infrastructure development.

These comments from Vasan come as political parties in Tamil Nadu gear up for the 2026 Assembly elections. Everyone’s watching alliances closely, both nationally and locally. His endorsement of Radhakrishnan could boost the NDA’s efforts in the state and solidify TMC(M)’s spot in the opposition front against the DMK government.
