In Surendranagar, Gujarat, officials and party workers gathered on Tuesday for a big welcome event for the new State BJP President, Jagdish Vishwakarma. The ceremony was energetic and full of local flavor, with a bike rally leading the way to the venue and people from every polling booth—especially farmers—joining the welcome.
District BJP President Hitendrasingh Chauhan kicked off the event with a warm address. Vishwakarma then paid a respectful visit to local churches and spiritual leaders before meeting farmers who had been hit hard by unexpected rains. He stopped on the fields, put a hand on a 70‑year‑old farmer’s shoulder and told the crowd that the BJP has always been there for them. “No party president has ever come to a farmer’s field like this before,” he said. “BJP is the first to give this kind of support.”
The president talked about how the state government is working to reduce the farmers’ losses from the weather and highlighted the success of schemes launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He praised local engineers and leaders for helping bring water to the Saurashtra region and for supporting Gujarat’s farmers and craftsmen.
Vishwakarma didn’t hold back when he took on the opposition. He said that some parties are now calling themselves “saviors” of farmers, but they have failed in Delhi and Punjab and now try to stir trouble in Gujarat. “Our workers come in huge numbers on their own, unlike other parties that need outsiders to fill gatherings,” he added. He also criticized Congress leaders for misleading the public and urged them not to disturb the peace in Gujarat, reaffirming citizens’ trust in Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Senior BJP figures—including ministers Kuvarji Bavliya and Darshana Vaghela, MP Chundu Shihora, Deputy State President Varsha Doshi, former minister IK Jadeja, and other district and state leaders—were present. The event ended with Vishwakarma outlining new goals for the party and reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to support farmers, small traders, and craftsmen across Gujarat.
