Gujarat cabinet directed to prioritise public grievance hearings

The Gujarat government is pushing a new “Ease of Living” plan that focuses on making everyday life easier for citizens—especially the poor and rural people who often feel left behind.

After a cabinet meeting in Gandhinagar, state spokesperson and minister Jitu Vaghani shared that Chief Minister Nitin P. Patel has told all ministers to keep Mondays and Tuesdays free for listening to the public. During those two days, ministers must stay in their offices all day and meet directly with residents and their elected representatives. No other meetings or events are allowed unless there’s an emergency.

In addition, CM Patel ordered every minister to travel to their district before the month’s end. They will hold review sessions with local administrators, check the progress of big projects, and examine road conditions on site. Within a set deadline, ministers must report back with detailed updates, and no shortcuts will be tolerated. “We will not accept shoddy road work,” the chief minister stressed. “Anyone responsible for low‑quality construction must face the full consequences of the law.”

Healthcare is also on the agenda. The CM wants the state to cut infant and maternal deaths to meet international standards. Ministers are pressed to roll out programs that improve child and mother care across Gujarat.

Across the state, district collectors and officials host “Jan Samvad” and “Janata Darbar” sessions. These open forums let people speak directly to government officials, especially in villages. Meanwhile, the government’s real‑time dashboard tracks each department’s responses, ensuring that problems are solved fast.

The state is expanding service centers such as Seva Setu and Digital Seva Kendras to bring government services and grievance redressal right to village front lines. Regular performance reviews of officers back the plan, making the administration more transparent, responsive, and efficient.

Through these steps, Gujarat aims to boost quality of life, maintain better roads, keep families safe during childbirth, and keep politics inside the public’s reach.
