Sardar Samman Yatra Reaches Gandhinagar: Gujarat CM Pays Tribute to Iron Man
Gandhinagar, Gujarat, came alive on Monday as Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel warmly welcomed the Sardar Samman Yatra and offered floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the iconic Iron Man of India. This heartfelt event celebrated the freedom fighter’s legacy and his vision for a united Akhand Bharat.
The yatra kicked off from Bardoli and will wrap up at Somnath temple, forming a key part of the year-long Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel celebrations across Gujarat. Thousands joined in, including big names like Minister Raghavji Patel, MPs H.S. Patel and Narhari Amin, MLAs Kaushik Vekariya, J.V. Kakadiya, and Janak Talaviya. BJP leaders such as State General Secretary Rajni Patel and Vice President Gordhan Zadafia also showed up, along with Gandhinagar Mayor Meera Patel, District Panchayat President Shilpa, and City President Ashish Dave.
The crowd grew even bigger with leaders from cooperative societies, social groups, and voluntary organizations. School and college students added youthful energy, making the Sardar Samman Yatra a vibrant tribute to Patel’s role as the Architect of Modern India.

In a boost to Gujarat’s sports ambitions, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah unveiled the state-of-the-art Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad’s Narangpura area. Built at a whopping Rs 825 crore, this world-class facility now stands dedicated to the nation, aligning with India’s push for Olympics 2036 success.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel joined the ribbon-cutting alongside Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel, Minister of State for Sports Harsh Sanghavi, and Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibha Jain. The event highlighted Gujarat’s drive to build top-notch sports infrastructure for young athletes.
Speaking at the inauguration, Amit Shah called sports the "soul of India." He pointed out that sports originated in ancient India and with the country’s massive young population, it’s time to aim for global excellence. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Shah said, Indian sports have seen huge changes—like building world-class stadiums, offering advanced training, ensuring fair selections, and giving stars a shot at international glory.
Over the last 10 years, these reforms have totally revamped Indian sports, from grassroots levels to the global stage. Events like this in Gujarat are paving the way for India to shine brighter in future Olympics and beyond.
