Ahmedabad – Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister, Harsh Sanghavi, rallied the Border Security Force in Moti Cher village, Kutch, to sing India’s national anthem, “Vande Mataram,” on its 150th anniversary. The event, held on Nov. 7, marked the legacy of the song that helped fuel the country’s freedom fight.
Sanghavi also urged the BSF troops to adopt Swadeshi, or indigenous, practices, saying the anthem embodies India’s unity and patriotism. He highlighted that “Vande Mataram” inspired countless citizens with sacrifice, devotion and love for the nation during the Independence Movement. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, the 150‑year celebration is taking place across India—from Kashmir to Kanyakumari—through sing‑alongs and patriotic gatherings.
The Deputy Chief Minister spent time chatting with the soldiers over tea, thanking them for their protection of India’s borders. He was joined by several dignitaries, including Police Inspector General Chirag Kordiya, District Development Officer Utsav Gautam, and Commandant Yogesh Kumar of the 176th BSF Battalion.
In New Delhi, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the year‑long celebration at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. He released a commemorative stamp and coin, launched a digital portal for the 150‑th anniversary, and led a nationwide choir that sang the full version of “Vande Mataram.” The initiative encourages people from all walks of life to sing together, sparking a shared sense of pride and unity.
The year ahead, from Nov. 7, 2025, to Nov. 7, 2026, will host cultural and educational programs throughout India to honor this timeless anthem that continues to inspire generations.
