The Gujarat government is set to host its 12th annual Chintan Shivir, a key administrative retreat, from November 13 to 15 at the serene Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram near Dharampur in Valsad district. Officials announced the plans on Thursday, highlighting how this event brings together leaders to brainstorm better ways to serve the public.
Under the theme “From Collective Thinking to Collective Development,” the three-day gathering will draw state Cabinet ministers, senior secretaries, and top administrative officers. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel chaired a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar on Thursday to finalize the details. During the session, Patel stressed the government’s focus on modernizing administration through technology, transparency, and people-first services.
This retreat traces its roots to 2003, when then-Chief Minister Narendra Modi launched it to make Gujarat’s bureaucracy more responsive and citizen-oriented. Over the years, Chintan Shivir has evolved into a vital hub for policy talks, skill-building, and fresh ideas on governance.
Expect lively discussions on hot topics like nutrition and public health, boosting the service sector, preparing Gujarat for faster growth, enhancing public safety, promoting green energy, and protecting the environment. To keep things dynamic, the agenda mixes in fun activities such as trekking, cycling, advanced meditation yoga sessions, and cultural events alongside the panels.
Ministers and senior officials will zip to Valsad on November 13 via the high-speed Vande Bharat Express train, then head back to Ahmedabad once the retreat wraps up. The event kicks off with an inauguration in the afternoon of the first day, followed by full days of group meetings, expert lectures, and brainstorming sessions.
The planning meeting saw key figures like Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, Chief Minister’s Principal Advisor Hasmukh Adhia, Additional Chief Secretary M.K. Das, and others from the General Administration department, ensuring a smooth and impactful Chintan Shivir for Gujarat’s development.
