Gandhinagar, Nov 30 (LatestNewsX) – The popular “SWAGAT” initiative in Gujarat is proving its effectiveness by tackling long‑standing problems in rural communities. One such success story comes from Moddar village in Porbandar district, a small settlement near Kutiyana that recently received a much‑anticipated outcome thanks to the program.
Farmers from Moddar, led by Lakhman Moddara, brought their persistent road issue to the attention of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during a recent SWAGAT session. They urged the construction of a new road and a bridge to give villagers direct access to Kutiyana.
Recognizing the urgency, the Chief Minister immediately approved a budget of ₹9 crore and directed the project to be executed promptly. Work will now begin on a minor bridge, a culvert, and a three‑kilometre stretch linking Moddar to Pasvari village.
The community expressed deep gratitude for the swift government response. Lakhman shared that the Chief Minister’s office called them on the fourth day to confirm that the ₹9 crore had been sanctioned, a relief that had long awaited. He explained that villagers had been traveling almost 20 kilometres through four other villages to reach Kutiyana.
Moddar lies in the Ghed region, where the river remains high for eight months, leaving the road usable for only four months of the year. Initially, district officials opened the old road after removing obstructions, but the village still needed a permanent bridge solution. When the request resurfaced at the Chief Minister’s SWAGAT programme, the much‑delayed solution was finally granted.
Rameshbhai Karangiya noted that the new road would become a lifeline for the village—students would reach school more easily, farmers could transport produce more efficiently, and patients in emergencies could access hospitals without delay, potentially saving lives.
