The Gujarat government will launch a special Janjatiya Gaurav Rath Yatra from November 7 to 13. The convoy travels a total of 1,378 km across the state’s tribal heartland, starting from Ambaji and Umargam and ending at Ekta Nagar, next to the Statue of Unity.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced the event as part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Mahotsav, which runs from November 1 to 15 to honor the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The day‑long push aims to spotlight tribal contributions to India’s growth and to raise awareness of state welfare programmes.
Two processions roll out on the same day. One leaves Umargam in Valsad district and covers 665 km, while the other departs from Ambaji in Banaskantha district, moving 713 km. Both routes converge at Ekta Nagar. Along the way, the rath passes 88 villages in 14 districts, with ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local leaders in attendance. Tribally focused ministers, including Naresh Patel and P.C. Baranda, will guide the march on different roads.
The journey features cultural shows, street plays, speeches, and exhibitions that highlight Birsa Munda’s legacy and the state’s tribal welfare initiatives. The Tribal Development Department’s high‑level committee has planned each stop, ensuring community participation in every district.
After each night’s halt, the convoy hosts interactive sessions with villagers and performs cultural tributes celebrating tribal heritage. The grand finale takes place on November 13 at Ekta Nagar, where senior state officials, parliamentarians, and thousands of tribal civilians from across Gujarat gather to celebrate.
