India has celebrated 24‑year of Narendra Modi’s leadership and his focus on the welfare of the country’s tribal communities is visible across Gujarat. In the state, long‑term plans such as the Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana and Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas have opened up new opportunities in school education, vocational training and health care.
In Kevadia the changes are easy to see. Children now go to government schools that boast smart classrooms, digital learning tools and interactive teaching methods—equipment that used to be available only in pricey private schools. “My parents no longer worry about my schooling,” says student Nirali Tadvi. Teachers point to the state’s vision for inclusive growth, noting that the prime minister’s push for smart classes has helped bring tribal children onto the same playing field as their urban peers.
Skill development is another priority. The Ekta Skill Development Centre in Kevadia trains young men and women from tribal backgrounds in trades such as hospitality, tailoring and computer operations—all free of charge. The centre also helps trainees secure jobs in well‑known companies, giving them a path to financial independence.
“Learning about the hotel industry and picking up new skills is invaluable,” says trainee Harish Tadvi.
Health services also have expanded. Weekly medical camps take place at Anganwadi centres across tribal villages, bringing free check‑ups, childhood vaccinations and prenatal care right to the doorstep of residents. “People no longer need to travel far for basic medical care,” explains Community Health Officer Chetna. “We bring the services straight into their homes, so they don’t have to waste time or money on travel.”
Through steady gains in education, skill development and healthcare, Gujarat is turning Prime Minister Modi’s dream of a Viksit Bharat into a reality for its tribal communities. The state’s initiatives help ensure that these communities are not left behind but instead move forward with pride, opportunity and confidence.
