Haryana village sends daily relief trucks to Punjab amid own flood crisis

In the midst of their own flood woes from heavy rains, villagers in Haryana’s Bhiwani district are showing incredible humanity by rushing aid to flood-hit areas in Punjab. The small village of Dhanana, completely surrounded by water with crops ruined and daily life disrupted, has stepped up big time. Led by the Jatu Khap-84 community group, locals are sending truckloads of relief material to support those suffering in Punjab’s flood crisis.

Even as they battle their own challenges, the people of Dhanana and nearby villages have united under Jatu Khap-84’s guidance. They’ve decided to send a full truck of essential supplies every day from different villages in the area until Punjab’s flood situation improves. “We’re helping others first, no matter what,” seems to be their motto, proving that solidarity shines brightest in tough times.

Young volunteers in Dhanana jumped into action right away. They went door-to-door, collecting cash and rations from fellow villagers to buy much-needed items for Punjab flood victims. With the funds, they stocked up on bottled water, mosquito nets, flour, potatoes, onions, salt, and other basics. Everything got packed carefully and loaded onto a truck ready to head out.

On Sunday, Jatu Khap-84 President Bheem Singh flagged off the second relief truck from Dhanana. The first one had already rolled out from the nearby Talu village. Bheem Singh shared that they’ll keep the aid flowing based on Punjab’s ongoing needs, highlighting the strong spirit of rural India in times of crisis.

Villager Ajit Bodi explained that this truck is heading straight to Hussainiwala, a historic village on the Sutlej River banks in Punjab’s Ferozepur district. That area has faced severe flooding, and the relief will make a real difference there.

Another local, Ajit Ghanghas, praised the tireless efforts of the youth working with Khap elders. The supplies sent so far are worth about Rs 6 lakh, all chosen thoughtfully to match what flood-affected families truly need. “Whatever Punjab requires, whenever they need it, we’ll send more under the Khap’s direction,” he assured confidently.

This heartwarming initiative from Haryana villagers aiding Punjab flood relief stands as a powerful example of compassion and community support. It shows how rural India’s brotherhood and helping spirit remain unbreakable, even when facing their own disasters like floods and crop losses. Such stories of humanity in flood-hit regions inspire us all to lend a hand.
