The central government has just pumped fresh money into its disaster relief pools, giving a fresh surge of aid to states hit by floods and monsoons this year.

How aid is being delivered
The central government has supplied logistics and sent rescue teams to flood, landslide, and cloudburst‑affected areas.
In the recent monsoon season, 199 NDRF teams were deployed across 30 states and union territories for rescue and relief operations.

Earlier this month
A high‑level committee led by Home Minister Amit Shah approved an extra ₹707.97 crore from the NDRF for Assam and Gujarat, which were hit hard by floods and landslides in 2024.
The money will be released after the committee adjusts 50 % of the opening balance available in each state’s SDRF.

  • ₹313.69 crore was approved for Assam.
  • ₹394.28 crore was set aside for Gujarat.

The committee also approved ₹903.67 crore for fire‑service upgrade projects in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

  • ₹117.19 crore for Haryana.
  • ₹397.54 crore for Madhya Pradesh.
  • ₹388.94 crore for Rajasthan.

The bulk of that sum—₹676.33 crore—is central assistance to help modernize fire‑fighting capabilities in those three states.

Overall, the central government’s money‑release strategy shows a clear focus on keeping disaster‑prone regions ready to respond, and it keeps frontline rescue units and state funds well supplied.
