On Friday, New Delhi, Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the teams working on the Red Fort blast investigation. His remarks came on the opening day of a two‑day “Anti‑Terror Conference” that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is hosting in the city.
The blast that killed 11 people on 10 November involved a car loaded with explosives that detonated as a suicide bomber drove it through a busy traffic signal in front of the historic monument. An unrelated court in Delhi has now lengthened the NIA’s custody of two key suspects in the case.
Judge Prashant Sharma granted ten more days of detention for Yasir Ahmad Dar while extending the stay of Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla by eight days. This move follows the agency’s assertion that Dar, a resident of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, is the ninth individual arrested in connection with the attack. He was taken into custody under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita of 2023.
In a statement, the NIA added, “NIA investigations have revealed Yasir’s active role in the conspiracy behind the car bomb blast that rocked the national capital on November 10. An active participant in the conspiracy, he had sworn allegiance and taken an oath to carry out self‑sacrificial operations.”
During the conference, Shah and experts from operational, technical, legal, and forensic backgrounds mapped out strategies to counter terrorism. Participants emphasized building formal and informal collaboration channels, reflecting a “Whole of the Government approach.” They also planned to offer concrete policy recommendations and discuss emerging national‑security threats.
