Actor Vijay Fires Up Rally in Ariyalur, Slams BJP and DMK Governments
Actor-turned-politician Vijay, the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), didn’t hold back during a fiery speech at a rally in Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday. He took sharp aim at the BJP-led central government, accusing them of tampering with democracy through voter deletions in Bihar and pushing the controversial One Nation One Election plan.
"I didn’t jump into politics to make money," Vijay declared to the cheering crowd. "My goal is to serve you—the people who have given me everything. Nothing else counts." He called out the BJP’s actions as "cruel," pointing to the disappearance of 60 lakh voters from Bihar’s electoral rolls. "With One Nation One Election, they’re plotting to dissolve state governments and hold simultaneous polls. They think they can manipulate everything—this is nothing but the murder of democracy," he added.
Vijay didn’t spare the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu either. He grilled Chief Minister MK Stalin on the party’s unfulfilled promises from the 2021 Assembly elections manifesto. "DMK made over 500 promises—how many have they actually delivered?" Vijay asked. "Stalin shamelessly claims they’ve done it all, but where’s the proof?"
Earlier that day, Vijay kicked off his statewide campaign for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections from Tiruchirappalli. He repeated his questions about the DMK’s track record, listing key pledges like slashing diesel prices by Rs 3, monthly electricity bill calculations, waiving student education loans, 40% job reservations for women in government jobs, restoring the old pension scheme, and filling two lakh government vacancies. "Out of 505 assurances, what’s been implemented? Zero on most fronts," he charged.
Vijay highlighted how the DMK is ignoring real issues plaguing Tamil Nadu residents. He brought up recent scandals, like a kidney theft case at a hospital owned by a DMK member. On women’s free bus travel, he said it’s turned into a joke, with women facing mockery over the "free" tag. "The Rs 1,000 monthly aid for women? It’s a broken promise. They parade a few recipients for photo ops, but millions are left out," Vijay fumed.
Looking ahead, Vijay promised that TVK would prioritize practical solutions in education, electricity, healthcare, women’s safety, and legal reforms. "We’ll only make promises we can keep—no empty talk," he assured the audience. He confidently predicted victory for TVK in the 2026 elections, positioning his party as a fresh third front in Tamil Nadu politics—an alternative to both DMK and AIADMK. This marks TVK’s debut in the state polls since its launch in 2024.
With tensions rising ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections, Vijay’s bold words are sure to stir up the political scene.
