Gandhinagar, Dec 9 (LatestNewsX) – In an effort to tie India’s postal services more closely to the country’s Gen‑Z demographic, the Department of Posts has opened Gujarat’s first Gen‑Z focused post office inside IIT Gandhinagar.

The revamped branch is part of a national rollout that will see 46 such offices launched at educational institutions by December 15.

Officials say the new outlet marks a significant step forward in modernizing the postal network, with a design meant to echo youthful vitality, creative flair and a tech‑savvy mindset.

At IIT Gandhinagar the post office has become a lively, student‑friendly, digitally equipped hub.

Sub‑Postmaster Sintu Kumar Jaiswal explained that the redesign was specifically tailored to make postal services more approachable for younger users.

Students from the institute were heavily involved in shaping the interior layout, contributing ideas that can be seen in the murals, décor and overall arrangement.

A standout piece is the mural titled “The Tree of Life at IIT Gandhinagar,” painted by students and showcasing the campus’s bustling ecosystem and diverse avian life, giving the office a distinctive artistic flair.

“I love how this space feels like a part of our campus, not just a government office,” said IIT student Sikha Sharma, expressing her enthusiasm for the fresh, youthful vibe.

Another student, Siddhesh, added that the updated design and digital amenities keep Gen‑Z users highly engaged.

Today’s post office offers Wi‑Fi, a small café, a reading nook, parcel‑packing services, QR‑based digital payments, philately products and postal life‑insurance offerings.

Students also benefit from exclusive Speed Post discounts, making sending parcels on campus cheaper and more convenient.

Campus residents feel the initiative has reconnected them with the postal system in a meaningful way.

“It’s not just a more affordable place to send parcels; it’s also a cool hangout spot with cash‑less payments and modern amenities,” a student remarked.

Overall, the project aims to breathe new life into India’s postal service by redefining the post‑office experience for Gen‑Z, and the IIT Gandhinagar model is already hailed as a successful example of that transformation.
