Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India Scheme (PM SHRI) is a new central‑government initiative that aims to open more than 14,500 schools across India. The goal is to give every child a safe, inclusive learning space where they can thrive both academically and socially.
In Gujarat’s Mehsana district, the PM SHRI‑backed Kamalaben Babulal Shah Anupam Primary School in Khairalu is now a standout example. The school’s old buildings were completely overhauled: modern classrooms now sport smart boards, a well‑furnished library, a science lab, and a large playground. The upgrade has made learning more engaging and technology‑friendly.
But the focus isn’t just on academics. The school actively promotes sports and other extracurriculars. Students play taekwondo, volleyball, football, cricket, and kabaddi, and the school’s PT teacher takes them to regional and national tournaments. “All our sports wins come from the indoor games stadium built under the PM SHRI scheme,” says Principal Kanubhai Prajapati. “Our kids have earned trophies at state, national, and even international events, plus awards in music and drawing.”
The school serves nursery through eighth grade. Its students have jumped to the national spotlight, and its branch in Vithoda earned the School of Excellence Award. The program aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, focusing not only on academic results but also on developing well‑rounded, 21‑st‑century skills in every pupil.
