Controversy Erupts Over Religious Leader’s "Mini Pakistan" Remark in Uttar Pradesh
A recent comment by renowned Hindu spiritual leader Jagadguru Ramabhadracharya has sparked a major row in Uttar Pradesh. During a religious discourse in Meerut, he described the western part of the state as a "Mini Pakistan," claiming Hindus in India face serious threats. This statement has drawn sharp backlash from Muslim leaders and politicians, who slammed it as divisive and baseless.
Muslim cleric Chaudhary Ifraheem Husain fired back strongly, calling the remark unacceptable. "This is a completely baseless and meaningless statement," Husain told reporters. He painted a positive picture of India, saying, "Our Hindustan is like a beautiful bouquet of flowers. It can never become Pakistan. Pakistan is our enemy country and will always stay that way. Our nation is great and will remain so."
Husain went further, demanding a complete cutoff from Pakistan. "We should have absolutely no relations with Pakistan—not even cricket matches," he insisted. "That country has always tried to harm India and keeps plotting against us. I urge the Indian government to sever all ties with Pakistan right away." His words highlight ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, a hot topic in Indian news.
The cleric also took a dig at another religious figure, Bageshwar Dham’s Dhirendra Shastri, known as Bageshwar Baba, for pushing the idea of a "Hindu Rashtra." Husain dismissed it as immature, pointing out, "It’s childish for Bageshwar Baba to talk about turning India into a Hindu Rashtra. Even RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has said there’s no such thing. So, is he challenging Bhagwat’s words now?" This adds fuel to debates on Hindu Rashtra in India, which often dominate social media and political discussions.
Samajwadi Party MP Harendra Malik echoed similar sentiments, stressing unity in the region. "This might be Ramabhadracharya’s personal view, but it doesn’t represent the people here," Malik said. "We were born in this land, we live here—it’s a core part of India. Every citizen is Indian, and we stand by the Constitution. We reject any statement that goes against it."
The controversy started when Ramabhadracharya, a respected figure in Hindu religious circles, made the "Mini Pakistan" comment while speaking in western Uttar Pradesh. He argued that the area’s atmosphere feels like Pakistan and warned of dangers to Hindus. Such remarks on religious harmony and India-Pakistan relations have quickly gone viral, drawing widespread attention across Uttar Pradesh news outlets.
As reactions pour in, this episode underscores the sensitivities around communal statements in India’s diverse society. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
