Rs 150 crore land scam: ED seizes cash, digital evidence during searches in Jaipur

Big Crackdown on Rs 150 Crore Land Scam in Rajasthan

In a major move to tackle a huge land scam in Rajasthan, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out searches in Jaipur on Saturday. The scam involves around Rs 150 crore and has links to illegal money flow across the country and even abroad.

The ED conducted raids on several locations connected to Gyan Chand Agarwal, a realtor accused of running a wide-ranging land fraud. These searches took place over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, as part of the investigation into money laundering and illegal activities.

During the raids, authorities found large amounts of unaccounted cash, along with documents showing foreign investments and assets acquired through suspicious means. It is suspected that Agarwal siphoned off money abroad using shell companies and invested in various illegal businesses, including mining.

The ED also seized digital evidence like hard disks, mobile phones, and other devices. These tools revealed extensive illegal transactions carried out by Agarwal and his associates.

This crackdown follows multiple FIRs filed by Rajasthan Police against Agarwal, a Jaipur resident with a long history of financial fraud. Over 300 FIRs are registered against him only in Jaipur, and many more across the state. Police describe him as a ‘history-sheeter,’ meaning he’s known for multiple criminal cases.

Agarwal has been accused of cheating over 300 land buyers with forged documents and false promises. Courts have also issued arrest warrants against him, but he remains at large. According to police, he duped investors out of more than Rs 150 crore.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities dig deeper into Agarwal’s operations to uncover the full extent of his fraud. This case highlights the importance of vigilance in real estate deals and the need to protect investors from such large-scale scams.
