PM Modi lays foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 7,300 crore in Manipur

PM Modi Boosts Manipur’s Development with Projects Worth Over Rs 7,300 Crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off a series of game-changing development projects in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Saturday. These initiatives, totaling more than Rs 7,300 crore, aim to drive inclusive growth and better infrastructure across the state.

Focusing on urban upgrades, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Manipur Urban Roads and Drainage Improvement Project. This massive Rs 3,600 crore effort will revamp roads, fix drainage issues, and manage assets to make cities cleaner and more efficient.

He didn’t stop there. The Prime Minister also greenlit five key National Highway projects valued at over Rs 2,500 crore. These will connect remote areas better and speed up travel. On top of that, he launched the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project to boost tech innovation and create jobs. Plus, working women hostels will come up at nine spots statewide, supporting female empowerment and work-life balance.

Later, PM Modi headed to Imphal, Manipur’s capital, to inaugurate more projects worth Rs 1,200 crore. Highlights include the new Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri, an IT Special Economic Zone (SEZ) building, and a modern Police Headquarters—also at Mantripukhri. He unveiled Manipur Bhawans in Delhi and Kolkata for better state representation. And in a nod to local culture, he boosted Ima Markets—those vibrant all-women markets—in four districts, helping women entrepreneurs thrive.

PM Modi Dedicates Mizoram’s First Rail Line Amid Rainy Weather

Shifting gears to the neighboring state, PM Modi dedicated Mizoram’s first-ever rail line, connecting Bairabi and Sairang, to the nation earlier in the day. This broad-gauge railway promises to transform lives by linking the hilly region to the rest of India.

Speaking from Lengpui airport in Aizawl—due to bad weather that kept him from the main event—PM Modi called it a "lifeline of transformation." He explained how it will bring better services to people, open national markets for Mizoram’s farmers and businesses, and revolutionize transportation in the "Blue Mountains."

Apologizing for not joining the crowd in person, the PM connected virtually and felt the crowd’s warmth. He paid tribute to Mizoram’s spirit, saying, "Whether it’s the freedom struggle or nation-building, Mizos have always stepped up with courage." He honored local heroes like Lalnu Ropuiliani and Pasaltha Khuangchera, whose ideals inspire the whole country. Starting his speech, he bowed to the Supreme God Pathian, blessing the land.

These moves highlight PM Modi’s push for Northeast India’s growth through better roads, rails, and urban projects, promising brighter futures for Manipur and Mizoram residents.
