In Karnataka, political tensions are heating up after recent changes within the Congress party. K.N. Rajanna, a former minister, was removed from the cabinet, sparking protests and heated accusations. Rajanna’s son, Rajendra Rajanna, strongly defended his father and hit back at deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar and other leaders making allegations. Rajendra Rajanna told reporters that if the Chief Minister’s position were truly offered, those making negative comments would be the first to join the BJP. He also pointed out that several leaders, including D.K. Shivakumar, have already left the party, suggesting a trust issue within the Congress. The controversy centers around Rajanna’s removal from the cabinet. Rajendra claimed that his father never showed any allegiance to the RSS or wore its uniform, unlike some other leaders. Following his sacking, supporters across Karnataka protested peacefully, demanding his reinstatement. Religious leaders also expressed solidarity, saying Rajanna was unfairly targeted and promising to speak to Congress higher-ups. Rajendra accused some party insiders of removing his father because he supported Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “Even after ten years, we will continue supporting CM Siddaramaiah,” he said. He also suggested that those claiming Rajanna might leave the Congress could be planning their own exit. While Rajendra emphasized his and his father’s loyalty to the Congress, MLA H.C. Balakrishna challenged Rajanna to swear before Lord Manjunatha of Dharmasthala if he’s truthful about staying in the party. Balakrishna also accused Rajanna of already negotiating with the BJP to join their ranks. Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar stated he wouldn’t comment on rumors about BJP talks, saying only that anyone can say anything in politics. Meanwhile, Balakrishna further claimed that Rajanna is already in touch with the BJP and has been trying to undermine Congress from within. Supporters were preparing to hold protests in Delhi against Rajanna’s removal. Balakrishna also said that if Rajanna had undergone brain mapping, the truth about his connections would be clear. He insisted that Rajanna is still with Congress only because the party is in power, implying he would leave if given the chance. This ongoing dispute is expected to create a major controversy within the Karnataka Congress, with Siddaramaiah’s camp likely to oppose Shivakumar’s faction. The political battle reflects deeper struggles for influence and loyalty within the party.
