In a major breakthrough against terror activities, the Delhi Police Special Cell teamed up with the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to arrest a suspected ISIS-linked operative named Ashar Danish. The dramatic catch happened on Wednesday in Ranchi’s Lower Bazaar area, where authorities had been tracking him for months.
Danish, originally from Petarwar in Bokaro district, was hiding out at Tabarak Lodge in Islamnagar. Acting on solid intelligence tips, the joint team raided the spot and nabbed him red-handed. During the search, they seized weapons, chemicals that could make explosives, and a bunch of electronic gadgets like laptops and mobile phones. Now, experts are examining these items forensically to uncover any terror connections and digital trails.
Early probes reveal Danish was gearing up for a big terror plot. Security agencies had already been watching his every move due to an ongoing case against him in Delhi. After the arrest, Delhi Police plans to bring him to the capital for deeper questioning.
The action didn’t end there. The team also raided Palamu district in Jharkhand and detained another suspect for grilling. This operation echoes past efforts—back in 2023, a similar joint raid swept through 16 spots in Ranchi, Hazaribagh, and Lohardaga, leading to nine arrests, including a radiologist named Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed from a Ranchi hospital.
Officials say these busts show how terror groups like ISIS are trying to turn Jharkhand into a hideout. Right now, the focus is on Danish’s network, his possible handlers, and ties to earlier suspects. Interrogating him might reveal key details about sleeper cells and the bigger ISIS terror network in the region, helping agencies stay one step ahead.
