Jaipur, India – A 12‑year‑old girl from a well‑known private school in Jaipur fell from the school’s fifth floor on Saturday and died before she could receive treatment.
The student, Amaira, was in the sixth grade when the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. She hit her head on a wall and then plunged into bushes outside the building.
Emergency staff responded quickly. School employees heard screams and rushed to the scene, then took Amaira to Metro Mass Hospital. Doctors declared her dead when she arrived.
Her parents, Vijay Kumar Dev and Shibani Dev, were taken to the same hospital in critical condition. The mother has been heard crying, “Please return my daughter,” while the father is reportedly unconscious because of shock.
The tragedy has sparked sharp criticism of the school’s safety and emergency procedures. Parents and members of the school’s Parent‑Teacher Association are demanding a full, transparent investigation. They claim that staff tampered with the scene, wiping blood stains and other evidence before police and a Forensic Science Laboratory team could arrive.
Police opened a case and are reviewing CCTV footage from all angles, looking for signs of negligence or foul play. Authorities also plan a forensic audit of the school’s handling of the incident.
The school’s management has not yet issued a statement. Amid growing concern over student safety, activists call for strict accountability and a thorough forensic review of the school building.
An incident like this highlights the urgent need for better safety protocols and emergency readiness in private schools across India.
