Cartels target federal immigration agents with $10K bounties, Kristi Noem reveals: ‘Dangerous and unprecedented’

In a clip that aired on Sunday’s “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem warned that drug cartels are putting cash rewards on federal immigration agents. She said the bounties amount to $10,000 to kill an agent and $2,000 for kidnapping one.

Noem added that cartel members have released the agents’ photos and are sharing them across their networks, turning the threat into an “extremely dangerous and unprecedented situation.” She did not name the specific agency, but the secretary pointed to U.S. federal law‑enforcement units, saying the danger comes from gangs, cartel members and known terrorist groups.

“We’re dealing with people who want to take down the officers who are stopping them from making money,” Noem explained. “They know who the officers are and they’re targeting them to keep their criminal operations alive.”

The announcement comes amid ongoing investigations. Officials say the authorities are working to protect the agents and gather more details on who is behind the bounties. The move underscores the growing risks faced by federal immigration personnel and the escalating threat posed by cartels across the border.
